The Exhibit Conservation Department
was founded in 1922.
Now we have thirteen laboratories of all kinds
of museum's
objects conservation and seventy three conservators.
The collection of the Russian Museum consists of more
then 400,000 works
of fine art dating from the ninth century to the present day, exhibited
in four beautiful palaces in the center of St Petersburg. All restorers are qualified art
experts and many have trained in top conservation centers in Europe and America. Every day
at work they engage in studying the techniques and technology of the works of the Old
Masters held in the museum's art collections.
